 Norwegian Timber prices continue to rise in Q1 2024

Delivery timber prices for both sawn timber and pulpwood increased during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the last quarter of last year.

The price of sawn timber increased by 8% and the price of pulpwood rose by 3%, according to statistics from the Norwegian Forestry Agency.

The price of sawn timber increased the most in Södra Norrland with 9%, followed by Svealand with eight percent. In Götaland the price of sawn timber rose by just under six percent and in Norra Norrland an increase of four percent is seen compared to the previous quarter.

In the region of Södra Norrland, the largest price increase for pulpwood is also noticeable, four percent up compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. The same increase is seen in Götaland. Pulp wood prices in Norra Norrland and Svealand increased by one and almost two percent, respectively.

The average prices are volume-weighted round timber quantities and apply to current prices where inflation has not been taken into account.
