Sveaskog sells its shareholding
in Setra Group to Mellanskog |
12 December 2024 - Sveaskog and Mellanskog announced that they have signed a letter of intent regarding the sale of Sveaskog¡¯s holding in Setra Group to Mellanskog. The change of ownership is planned to be implemented during 2025Q1. The Setra Group, a limited company, is owned 50% by Sveaskog and 49.5% by the forest owners¡¯ association Mellanskog. The other 0.5% is owned by approximately 1,400 small shareholders. The sale means that Mellanskog acquires Sveaskog¡¯s total holding in Setra Group. BACKGROUND Setra Group is one of Sweden¡¯s largest wood industry companies and contributes to Swedish exports of wood products. The company¡¯s production facilities process forest raw materials into sawn and planed timber, glulam, CLT, and components for construction and housing. In addition, the bioproducts are used for domestic energy production. Sveaskog is Sweden¡¯s largest forest owner with 14% of the country¡¯s forest land. The company is owned by the Swedish state and is an independent player with no major interests of its own as an end user of forest raw materials. The change of ownership is in line with Sveaskog¡¯s strategy to be a responsible forest owner and a previous Riksdag decision from 2009. Mellanskog is a forest owner association with an area of operation from Gotland in the south to Härjedalen in the north and is owned by approximately 28,200 members. The association¡¯s main task is to create as much value as possible for the association¡¯s members. Source: sveaskog.se |
