THE EUROPEAN PRODUCTION OF BATHROOM FURNITURE AND
ACCESSORIES February 2002 - According to a CSIL survey, in the year 2000 the production of bathroom equipment in Europe was estimated at around 4,900 million Euro. The European bathroom equipment production can be broken down into the following segments: bathroom furniture, which represent about 25% of the total bathroom equipment supply; bathroom accessories and fittings with a share of about 20%; toilet seats; shower partitions (less than 20%); multi-use shower booths and equipped columns which make up about 20% of the total supply; whirlpool bathtubs. The growth trend in this sector for the last five-year period may be estimated at around 2% annually with regards to bathroom furniture and accessories and at 3.5% annually with regards to shower booths and whirlpool bathtubs. In the year 2000 exports of European companies (from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece) were estimated at about 1,000 million Euro. The European Union appears to be the main destination for exports with a share of 80%. In particular Germany stands out as the main outlet market of exports of European companies with a share of 21%, followed by France and Italy. |
