| News: IWPA Mahogany Workshop a Success 05.10.2002 - Belem, Brazil The Tropical Forest Foundation and the Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agro-Pecuaria (EMBPRA) co-hosted a Mahogany Workshop in Belem, Brazil, May 2-4. The workshop came to a successful close after intense discussions on the topic, "Sustainable Trade and Management of Mahogany.¡± Members of the mahogany industry, governments, scientists and NGOs pointed out that bans on logging and trade activities are generally counterproductive in relation to a sustainable use of forests. |
