A Grade: Knots are not allowed, small pin knots are allowed up to 1/4 " in diameter. Heart wood or sap wood is not allowed. Color variation is not allowed, tone deviation between staves is allowed. The color of the staves should be natural, mineral streaks are allowed. Mechanical defects, open splits, decay and warp are not allowed.
